Creating Captivating Video Content

Getting your feet wet in the world of video creation can be intimidating, which is why many marketers stay behind the fence. We get it – there is a lot to think about and a lot to do. But with a professional video production company such as Viamark Video in Boston, we help you create great videos with excellent strategies behind them. Here are a few tips on how to create captivating video content for your audience:

Storyboard

The best marketing videos do not come from rolling a camera and catching whatever happens in the moment. They are a result of careful planning and preparation. Put together a storyboard and script before getting the cameras set up. This will help you figure out exactly what shots you will need before you start filming. Careful planning is key; the more time you spend planning, the less likely you are to be missing footage when you wrap. Plan the style of the shoot, the location, and what you want the audience to take away from it after watching.

Prep Presenters

Make sure your presenters or interview subjects know what is expected of them on the day of the shoot. There should be no confusion on what they need to do and you should have a good idea of what the finished product will look like in the end. However, avoid having presenters memorize pages of script as they are likely not actors and it will probably cause them to make mistakes. If a script is necessary, make sure it sounds conversational. You can also create an outline of the points of discussion and have them speak to those points without having a written script.  Another options is to use a teleprompter, but we find that interviews often work best with people that aren’t used to being on camera.

B-Roll

If you want to integrate more shots than just your presenter into your video, such as shots of your team hard at work, you will need B-roll footage. Figure out what footage you would like to have during pre-production so you aren’t lacking shots in the end. Some B-roll footage could include happy customers using your product or an office shots. You can never have too much B-roll footage, so it’s always better to be safe than sorry.

Repurpose

Video can be used in many different ways. Consider using a video proposal rather than a word document or PowerPoint. You can shoot general video content and break it apart into segments. Those segments can then be embedded into presentation files for proposals, blog posts, or your website.
